This was the first poem I ever wrote, I was in the tenth grade. It was published by The National Library of Poetry in 1994.
“I’ve Been There Before”
Love is something that grows
“I’ve been there before”
When you’re in love you always know
“I’ve been there before”
Be careful; you can get hurt when you’re in love
“I’ve been there before”
Love is blind
People ask me how I know
I just respond, “I’ve been there before”
“Love hurts,” how do I know?
“I’ve been there before”
Don’t say you’re in love unless you know for sure
“Believe me I’ve been there before”
I have always looked at life as though it
never changes.
Now that I am older and see things
differently, I have realized that life
has many changes.
Some that I don't like and would rather not
have happen,
and then I realize that most are for the best.
Then there are the good changes, in which
everyone likes to see happen.
You can go through life and have many
changes or few changes.
But you have to look at it the way I do now,
People change just like season change and
Life has many Changes.
So take the changes as they come and don't
take them for less than they are.
Except all changes for the good and don't
take them for the bad.
The moment I first saw him I felt something
special deep within my heart.
When I'm with him it's like nothing
can go wrong.
When we are apart I feel empty;
Like a hollow chocolate bunny.
He makes me feel like a new woman,
So loved and wanted.
All I want to do is give him every piece of my
heart and more love than he's ever known
I just hope he feels the same way.
Every weekend, I am there in front of the TV.
Cheering for my favorite driver.
Pass on the left, now on the right.
Go fast,
Turn left.
The only time I get to smell, see, and
hear it live, is when it has come to my
hometown.
This is always a Saturday night.
The smell of the rubber burning, the smoke
when there is a crash.
The sound of the engines, the
cheering fans, but over it all the best
sound to hear is
"Gentlemen Start Your Engines."
There are no drugs only good clean positive
attitudes,
Prayer and fellowship.
All race fans no matter what driver they
like are all one big happy family.
The Racing Family!
A Tribute To Lydia Elizabeth Smith 9/30/22 - 1/19/01
As I sit and look out the window I think of
all the times we shared together.
All the memories we shared.
All the things you told me.
I will not forget anything and I'll always remember you.
You were a very big part of my life and you will always be.
Even if you are not here in person,
you are here in my heart and mind.
I love you, Grandma; I’ll never forget you.
