Excerpt:
A Tribute To Lydia Elizabeth Smith 9/30/22 - 1/19/01
As I sit and look out the window I think of
all the times we shared together.
All the memories we shared.
All the things you told me.
I will not forget anything and I'll always remember you.
You were a very big part of my life and you will always be.
Even if you are not here in person,
you are here in my heart and mind.
I love you, Grandma; I’ll never forget you.
Beauty comes from within;
it is in the eyes of the beholder.
Don't look for beauty on the outside,
because looks can be deceiving.
So when you want to find true beauty and
love, look far within.
That is where the true beauty lies.

Reviews:
“I’ve Been There Before” author, Leslie A. McGuinn,
writes from the heart; from her love of family and
friends, to the love of her life, to heartbreak, then
finally, promise. In doing so, we the readers, learn
of the chapters the make-up the life and emotional
history of McGuinn.
In essence, poetry can be the quintessential door to
an author’s heart; this reviewer believes, that with
this collection, McGuinn expresses to the reader her
soul. Questioning the why’s of her evolving emotions;
until realization answers.
I’ve Been There Before is a timetable of life,
unending.
Tammy L Whisman, Author
“Fireflies, Moonlight and All That Jazz”
I’ve Been There Before by Leslie A. McGuinn is a “sweet to your eyes and mind” collection of poetry that you’ll want to read at least twice, maybe three times a week! You’ll look at the outline of these poems, and look at the structure and design, and see them there and wonder to yourself – why did she write ( but not in a bad way! ). Then you’ll read them, and you’ll see why she wrote them. They are so full and trailing – I say trailing because when your finished reading one poem and go to another the previous one is still inside your head… and while you are finishing the one you are reading it’s slowly pounding a place inside your head to nestle down and have you ponder about it too, and by the time your finished with the last poem, you’re smiling, and your enchanted by words of feeling and truth.
She has four sections and each section is a different part of a world in life! Each section is another place to mutter softly and brilliant things!
